Rwenzori International University (riu.ac.ug) was established to increase access to higher education for individuals in the greater community of Kasese, Uganda; providing competitive academic programs, equipping learners with skills and innovative thinking for sustainable development and promoting a holistic approach for addressing diverse issues affecting society.

RIU works to cultivate a culture of accountability and transparency and creates opportunities for research, collaborations and global linkages.

The University is registered in the Uganda Registration Service Bureau and received its Letter of Interim Authority from the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).

RIU owns a 2 acre campus within the Kasese Municipality with teaching facilities, a library, computer lab, clinical and administrative offices and other facilities. The University also maintains a 30 acre rural site within the municipality but outside the Town Center that is approved by NCHE for future development.
